Council's annual NAIDOC Flag Raising brings together our community on Kabi Kabi Country, Nambaa, to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
In line with this year's theme, the event will include a Youth Showcase featuring performances, art and activities by First Nations young people.
We invite our whole community to join us for this important celebration.
About the theme
NAIDOC Week 2025 marks 50 years of honoring First Nations voices, culture, and resilience. The theme "The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy” celebrates the past achievements and the bright future ahead, empowered by young leaders, community vision, and ancestral legacy.
Together, we walk forward, honoring where we've come from and looking boldly to the next generation who will carry NAIDOC and their communities into the future.
Sunshine Coast Council acknowledges the Kabi Kabi Peoples and Jinibara Peoples, the Traditional Custodians of the lands and waters we all now share. We value and embrace their enduring connection to Country and rich cultural heritage as a core part of our regional identity.

Join us to celebrate NAIDOC with an afternoon of live music and an exhibition opening by the First Nations students of Maleny State High School
Munimba-ja has been working closely with the First Nation students at Maleny State High School to explore this years NAIDOC theme - The Next Generation Strength, Vision & Legacy.
Across a few sessions, young people had the space to share their stories, culture, and creativity while creating work about what sort of Ancestor they would like to be.
Join us for the opening event on Sunday 6th of July at 4pm - 7:30pm. There will be live music provided by Gaba Musik and drinks and nibbles supplied by us.
*Please note that this is an alcohol free event, so there will be no cash bar.

COMMUNITY COSY CONCERT - PRESENTED BY 'endED'
‘endED’ presents Cosy Concert - inspiring songs from LAYLA HAVANA
‘endED” are a holistic organisation that aims to create hope for anyone affected by eating issues or eating disorders in Australia. We aspire to do this through compassionate lived experience support and community connection.
Our Cosy Concerts were designed as a way to give back to our community. For our participants, this offers the chance to step away from appointments and hospitals and to reconnect with other like-minded humans in a social setting. For our community, this offers parents/carers, volunteers, donors and friends to come and share in the beautiful sanctuary that we have created here at House of Hope.
Our next Cosy Concert is on the Saturday the 25th of May and will take place between 2.30 - 5.30 pm House of Hope, Woombye.
The event will take place outside in our beautiful Peaceful Park [weather permitting - we have undercover options available as a back-up option] and we will enjoy the sunset together before lighting the endED fire place. There will be some select seating but we encourage our guests to bring picnic rugs and set up under the shade of our rainforest oasis.

“Layla Havana is a First Nations singer / songwriter who lives on Gubbi Gubbi country at Peregian Beach, Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia. Layla Havana is young artist with an old spirit. Her style of song writing comes from her heart and soul. Layla’s voice has a truly unique sound.
Paired with the honesty of her lyrics, she can move her audience emotionally, even at such a young age.
